Dr. Eric Meyer

Eric Meyer, M.D.

Eric C. Meyer, M.D. graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Biology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Upon earning his doctorate degree, Dr. Meyer completed his medical internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee and a residency in Ophthalmology at University of Pittsburgh Eye & Ear Institute. Dr. Meyer has been a board-certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist since first becoming eligible in 2001. Dr. Meyer’s clinical interests include advanced cataract surgery, comprehensive eye care, eyelid plastic surgery, and medical retina diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Meyer is a native of Minnesota and has lived with his wife, two children, and golden retriever in Durango for the past 8 years. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hiking, golf, skiing, and hockey.


Dr. Joshua Zastrocky

Joshua Zastrocky, M.D.

Joshua Zastrocky, M.D. graduated Summa Cum Laude from Regis University in Denver, Colorado where he studied Chemistry and Neuroscience. He went on to receive his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon earning his doctorate degree, Dr. Zastrocky completed his medical internship and residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Following residency, he completed his fellowship training in medical and surgical glaucoma management at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Dr. Zastrocky is a board-certified Glaucoma Specialist whose clinical Interests include glaucoma treatment and surgery, comprehensive eye care, and advanced cataract surgery, and neuro-ophthalmology.

Dr. Zastrocky was born in Denver and grew up in Broomfield, Colorado. He is thrilled to be back in Colorado and the Four Corners region. When not seeing patients, Dr. Zastrocky enjoys all that Durango has to offer with his wife and their six children.


Dr. Allison Young

Allison P. Young, M.D.

Allison Young, M.D. graduated Cum Laude from Columbia University where she received her degree in Biology .She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Upon earning her doctorate degree, Dr. Young, completed her medical internship at Baylor University before completing her Ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, where she was chief resident. Dr. Young’s clinical interests include comprehensive eye care, advanced cataract surgery, medical retina diagnosis and treatment, and pediatric eye care.

Dr. Allison Young is excited to be practicing ophthalmology in the Four Corners region. She is a native Texan, and her husband, Matthew, is from Montana. Dr. Young and her family find Durango to be a perfect fit their growing family! They have a toddler son and are expecting their second child in the summer of 2009. Dr Young and her family enjoy the beauty of southwest Colorado, and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to raise their children in this wonderful part of the country.


Dr. John Parkinson

John M. Parkinson, M.D.

John Parkinson, M.D. graduated Cum Laude from Princeton University where he received his degree in Biology. He went on to receive his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. From there, Dr. Parkinson attended the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where he completed his residency in ophthalmology as Chief Resident. Dr. Parkinson completed his fellowship in Glaucoma at Barnes Hospital Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He then taught glaucoma to ophthalmology residents for three years as Chief of the Glaucoma Service at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Parkinson’s clinical interests include glaucoma treatment and surgery, medical retina diagnosis and treatment, advanced cataract surgery, and comprehensive eye care.

Dr. Parkinson, a Colorado native, and his wife, Katie, have lived in Durango since 1991. They have raised three children in Durango and continue to share living quarters with Charlie, their rambunctious golden retriever, and Oscar, their cat. The Parkinson’s appreciate the friendly nature and values of folks in the Four Corners region.


Dr. David Bishop

David Bishop, M.D.

David Bishop, M.D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Specialist who has provided ophthalmic care to residents of the Four Corners for many years. He graduated from Oklahoma State University, and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Bishop attended residency at the University of Texas in Galveston before earning his fellowship in plastic. Dr. Bishop’s clinical interests are the diagnosis and treatment of medical eye disease.
